Week 21 summary

On Monday my tutor showed us in Z brush how to make a pillar with details, these being damage to the pillar, Added vines and how to use certain tools to obtain this. This was a interesting session I enjoyed the lecture as I got to learn more of Z brush, I have wanted to use Z brush again and it's many tools and brushes so I am happy that this recent modelling project is using this programme. On the Wednesday we were left to continue our pillar, by the Wednesday I had fairly finished my high poly model, I did want to add a little more details such as vines but my tutor said it will take to much time in the short amount of time that we have to fully complete this task, taking this into account I left my model with the the level of detail that it had.  On the Thursday I had a contextual studies lecture which consisted of a induction to video game studies. At the end of the week I had life drawing which was fun as we got to draw the life models in medieval themed clothing and in a range of different poses such as sword fighting and death scene pose, this was an off beat session from other life drawing sessions that I have done before.

Life drawing workshop 5

In this life drawing session we had to draw two models, something that I haven't done before in any life drawing session. The two models were dressed in fantasy themed costumes which were medieval styled characters, with added props (Swords).
The duration of each drawing was 12 minutes, I used charcoal as my medium.
This is one of my favourite sketches of this session, I think I got the portions of the model fairly accurate I believe this sketch could be worked into to become more striking.

This is my least favourite as the perspective is incorrect, I'm glad that I had given it ago and hope that we will do more sessions like this in the future.

My pillar drawing designs.

Here are some pillar drawing designs, I went with the rock design as I liked the look of the structure as is it more of a basic design but it has it's purpose and strength. I like design 4 the best as it's simple but I can put more detail into it. My rock pillar is designed to be old and worn well throughout it's years.

Pillar inspiration

For our 4th 3D model task is to design a pillar that shows some damaged, this could be any type of pillar from a sci-fi themed to a wooden or even rock like but it needs to have it's purpose. The pillar needs to be created first in Maya that will be it's basic shape then it needs to be imported into Z brush and edit with it's detail. This will be high poly model.

I have looked at some pillar designs, here they are below.
I would like to do a rock theme pillar.

Week 20 summary

This week on Wednesday I had a 3D session learning more about Z brush this was a interesting session as we got to play around with a basic cube shape that we imported into z brush, we got to edit the cube and add detail to the surface. We experimented with different brush types and alphas to add a damage effect to the surface of the cube. I added a rock like effect to the surface that I think attain great detail very well. This gave me a idea for the next 3D model project which is to design and model a pillar, I believe I will do a rock like pillar which I will design a few concepts drawings too a long side this.

(Cube with first added details, using clay tubes brush)

(Cube with more detail. Using more clay tube brush and fracrture tool brush to give added rock like realism to cube)

Week 18 summary

This week me and my group had our presentation, there was no sessions also this week. The presentation didn't go to bad but it could of been better as we did go over the 10 minute time limit. I think if me and the group have met up a lot more often in the week before of our presentation instead of once or twice in that week instead of working a lone on the presentation we could of planed the presentation more successfully. Overall things could of gone better and flowed more smoothly from  subject to subject but I think we did well as a group and worked well together and spoke confidently during our presentation.
