Life drawing workshop 5

In this life drawing session we had to draw two models, something that I haven't done before in any life drawing session. The two models were dressed in fantasy themed costumes which were medieval styled characters, with added props (Swords).
The duration of each drawing was 12 minutes, I used charcoal as my medium.
This is one of my favourite sketches of this session, I think I got the portions of the model fairly accurate I believe this sketch could be worked into to become more striking.

This is my least favourite as the perspective is incorrect, I'm glad that I had given it ago and hope that we will do more sessions like this in the future.

Life drawing Workshop 4

In this life drawing workshop the session consisted of drawing hands and learning more on perspective, We were told to sit down as a class with the tutor which he went through the differences of prospective. Below are the sketches of the hands that I draw, We had different time intervals to finish each drawing. Some gestures were harder than others, but overall it was an interesting session and I was quite please with some of my hand drawings, especially the fist gesture sketch.

Life drawing workshop 3

This is my first life drawing workshop since the Christmas term. The session consisted of drawing the models facial expressions which is a lot different to drawing the model in full. In the session we had to draw 16 sketches and each piece lasting no longer than a few minutes, at the end of the workshop we had to draw the model in full for half an hour using chalk and pencil which had to express lighting using the white chalk. I did enjoy this workshop as it did bring me out of my comfort zone with drawing facial gestures, but feel I could do a lot better next time the more I practice.

I prefer to draw with charcoal in these workshops, as I feel I can get the drawings done a lot more quicker, if  I was drawing with a different medium such as a pencil, for me it would take me a lot longer to complete.

Workshop, Life drawing 2

These sketches were drawn on my second life drawing session. I found that this session was a lot more successful than my first. I believe my drawings that are showing here show improvement, such as the 16 quick sketches , at least most are showing a full body sketch were previous they were not. The sketches were white chalk was my media these drawings are showing lighting on the model but without using a solid line first. It was interesting to use this techniques as it really made me think strongly how lighting and shadow casting on a figure.

Workshop, Z brush 2

This piece was produced in my 2nd Z brush lecture. We were told and shown how to use certain techniques. We then had to use these new skills to produce a piece of modelling work. The main subject was our insect project, so me and a few other students created a model from an insect. I chose to model a beetle head because it was my final design in the insect project. I like the outcome but would like to add a lot more detail to the head design. I have added horns to this piece, this was a new sculpting technique that I had learn in the lecture.

Workshop, Life drawing

These sketches were done in my first life drawing session. I haven't studied life drawing since I was in college on my foundation course a few years ago, so getting back into life drawing felt like new again, I felt rusty. I think the more sessions that I do the better I will become and will get the feel for it again. The top drawing was my first sketch that I did, the line used in this drawing shows the lack of confidence in the drawing, With more practise I should hopefully be able to draw the figure with much more flow in the lines. The second image shows 16 small quick sketches, we had to try and draw the full figure in the small boxes that were created by folding the paper, this was quite a challenge, some are better than others. I would like to do a lot more life drawing so I can improve in figure drawing, I have always wanted to be more confident in doing this.

Workshop, Z brush

These two images are my very first experimental pieces using a modelling software called "Z brush". The two examples are random pieces that I created while playing around with different tools in the programme, they are very alien like in appearance. I really enjoyed using Z brush, it was the first time that I have used it properly. I am looking forward to using it again during the course, I would like to become a lot better at using Z brush and to produce a completed model.
